(Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals try to keep up a remarkable recent run on the road when the streaking club resumes a four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles tonight at Camden Yards.
Kansas City earned its sixth consecutive road win by putting forth a tremendous comeback in Monday's opener. The Royals tied the game on a two-out, pinch-hit solo homer by Miguel Olivo in the top of the ninth inning, then came through with a 6-5 decision on Jose Guillen's RBI single in the 11th.
The Royals battled back from an early 5-1 deficit with a pair of runs in the sixth inning, then cut Baltimore's lead to a run when Guillen scored on a balk by O's reliever Dennis Sarfate.
Kansas City appeared headed to a third straight loss, but Olivo sent Baltimore closer George Sherrill's 0-2 offering over the left-field wall with the Royals down to their final out.
It was the second straight blown save for Sherrill, who served up a game- winning two-run homer to Washington's Ronnie Belliard in the 12th inning of Sunday's 3-2 defeat to the Nationals.
Orioles shortstop Alex Cintron went 2-for-3 with an RBI double before leaving the game in the seventh inning with an apparent hamstring injury. Ramon Hernandez had a solo home run in the loss.
The Royals last won seven straight road games between August 15-September 1, 1989, a year in which the longtime also-rans compiled a 92-70 overall record.
Luke Hochevar gets the starting nod for Kansas City this evening and is coming off an impressive showing this past Wednesday. Against Colorado, the former No. 1 overall pick yielded just two runs over a career-high eight innings to lead the Royals to a 4-2 victory.
Hochevar has won two straight decisions and allowed two earned runs or less in three of his last four starts.
The 24-year-old righty lost his only previous encounter with Baltimore, which took place in Kansas City on May 8. Hochevar permitted four runs on just five hits over seven innings in a 4-1 defeat.
Radhames Liz makes his sixth start for Baltimore tonight following a callup from the minors in early June. The Orioles have won four of the young righty's five outings so far, including Thursday's 11-4 road triumph over the Chicago Cubs.
Liz moved to 2-0 on the season after holding the Cubs to two runs and four hits over the first five innings.
This will be the 25-year-old Dominican's first career start versus Kansas City.
The Royals ended a seven-game losing streak in Baltimore with Monday's comeback. However, Baltimore has still won 15 of the last 18 meetings in this series and took three of four from the Royals in Kansas City back in May.
