Texas Rangers (43-41) at New York Yankees (44-39), 7:05 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Joba Chamberlain will attempt to win his first game as a starter at home tonight, when the New York Yankees resume a three-game series with the Texas Rangers in the Bronx.

Chamberlain has been what the Yankees hoped he would be when they moved him into the starting rotation after he made a name for himself in the bullpen. The 22-year-old didn't factor into the decision of any of his first four starts, despite allowing five runs over 18 1/3 innings, before defeating Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

The right-hander held the Pirates without a run over 6 2/3 innings, yielding six hits and a walk while striking out seven. As a starter, Chamberlain is 1-0 with a 1.80 earned run average and 26 strikeouts over 25 frames.

He has never faced the Rangers before in his short career.

Chamberlain will be facing a Texas team that continues to lead the majors in runs scored (458), hits (828) and runs batted in (439). The Rangers scored just twice in Monday's series opener, but it was enough in a 2-1 victory. Josh Hamilton drove in his major-league leading 80th run of the season, while Chris Davis also had an RBI.

Michael Young went 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Rangers, who have posted a victory in three of their last four games. Scott Feldman (2-3) gave up a run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings to earn the first road victory of his career. C.J. Wilson tossed a perfect ninth to pick up his 18th save of the year.

Texas' bullpen retired the final 10 Yankee hitters, but reliever Eddie Guardado left the game during his warm-ups in the eighth inning due to an inflamed left shoulder. He is day-to-day.

Former Ranger and current Bronx Bomber Alex Rodriguez hit a historic home run in the fourth inning, posting the 534th long ball of his career to tie him with Jimmie Foxx for 14th place on baseball's all-time list. Derek Jeter went 0-for-4, snapping a 28-game streak in which he reached base safely.

Mike Mussina (10-6) took the loss as he gave up both runs on five hits in six frames. He did strike out eight batters and walked only two, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Yankees from losing for the sixth time in their last 10 games.

Brett Gardner made his major-league debut for the Yankees in Monday's game. Starting in place of Johnny Damon (injury) in left field, he went 0-for-3 with a stolen base.

Kevin Millwood starts for the Rangers and suffered his first loss since returning from the disabled list on May 30 last time out. Millwood, who was sidelined due to a strained groin muscle, went 3-0 in five starts before suffering a setback to Houston on Thursday, allowing seven runs on 12 hits over five innings.

The righty is 5-4 with a 5.08 ERA on the season and will make his fifth straight road start. He is 1-4 with a 5.25 ERA in eight starts away from Texas this season.

Millwood is 1-4 with a 4.82 ERA in six career starts versus the Yankees. Rodriguez is hitting .429 (6-for-14) with a homer in his career off Millwood, and is a lifetime .320 batter with 15 homers and 58 RBI in 87 games against his old club.

The Yankees won five of six from the Rangers last season and have won eight of their last 10 overall in the series. However, all four of Texas' wins in the matchup over the last two seasons have come in the Bronx (4-4).
