Milwaukee Brewers (45-38) at Arizona Diamondbacks (42-42), 9:40 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Injuries are starting to creep up on the struggling Arizona Diamondbacks. One day after losing two position players, the team will now shuffle its starting rotation as it plays the third portion of a four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers at Chase Field.

Micah Owings was to start tonight for Arizona, but after experiencing tightness in his glute as the result of covering first base in Friday's start versus Florida, he will have his turn skipped tonight. Owings struggled during a bullpen session yesterday.

Instead, Yusmeiro Petit will toe the rubber for the Diamondbacks. The right- hander went 0-1 with a 4.70 earned run average during six relief outings earlier in the season and will make his first start of 2008 after being recalled last week.

Petit, who went 3-4 with a 4.58 ERA in 10 starts and four relief appearances last season, hasn't pitched in the majors since April 26 in San Diego. He suffered the loss in that one, yielding a run in 2 1/3 innings of an 8-7 setback.

The 25-year-old is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in two outings, including one start, lifetime versus Milwaukee.

The Diamondbacks played yesterday's 8-6 loss without Eric Byrnes and Chris Snyder after both players landed on the 15-day disabled list prior to the contest. Byrnes, saddled with hamstring injuries most of the season, is out due to a left hamstring strain, while Snyder joined him with a left testicular fracture suffered when a foul ball struck him in Monday's game.

Miguel Montero started in Snyder's place and had a hit and an RBI, while Conor Jackson was in left field in place of Byrnes. Jackson, normally a first baseman, has played eight games in left this year.

Jackson was 3-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and three RBI in last night's loss, Arizona's fifth in seven games. The club hasn't won back-to-back tests since June 18-19 and lead the Dodgers by just 2 1/2 games for first place in the National League West.

After opening the season 20-8, the Diamondbacks have gone 22-34 since.

J.J. Hardy hit a pair of home runs for the Brewers last night, driving in three runs while scoring three times. Joe Dillon added a two-run homer as the Brewers improved to 4-4 on a 10-game road trip and are 4 1/2 games back of the first-place Cubs in the NL Central.

Hardy is now batting .377 (20-for-53) with four homers and 12 RBI over a 13- game hitting streak.

Milwaukee starts Seth McClung for tonight's test. McClung had one of his worst outings since entering the Brewers' rotation last time out. In his seventh start of the year, he gave up nine hits and five runs over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus Minnesota on Friday, his shortest stint since also going 4 2/3 frames versus Atlanta on May 29.

The 27-year-old right-hander is 5-3 with a 4.25 ERA this year and 1-0 with a 4.05 ERA in two games (1 start) lifetime versus the Diamondbacks. He defeated Arizona at home on June 3, giving up just a run and six hits over six innings without a walk.

Milwaukee swept a three-game series versus Arizona at Miller Park from June 2-4 this season. The Brewers are 10-3 in their last 13 encounters with Arizona.
