Arizona Diamondbacks (45-46) at Washington Nationals (35-57), 7:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Right-hander Dan Haren tries for his second win against Washington this season when his Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Nationals for the third and final game of a three-game series at Nationals Park.

Haren, who came to the Diamondbacks in the offseason after winning 15 games for Oakland in 2007, defeated Washington, 5-0, on June 1.

In that win, he allowed four hits in seven scoreless innings, walking three batters and striking out five while improving his career mark against the Nationals to 2-1 in three games - two starts.

He dropped a 5-1 decision to San Diego on July 4, ending a six-start unbeaten streak that had also included wins over Oakland and Boston.

Washington right-hander Jason Bergmann dropped a 4-0 decision to Arizona on May 31, one day before Haren beat the Nationals by the same score.

In that game, Bergmann allowed seven hits and four runs, walking none and striking out eight in eight innings.

The loss was the first of five straight since his last triumph, which came May 15 at Shea Stadium against the New York Mets.

He lost, 3-0, to Cincinnati in his last start on July 4, allowing six hits and two earned runs in six innings.

On Wednesday, Jesus Flores blasted a pinch-hit three-run homer and John Lannan had another excellent start, giving the Nationals a 5-0 win.

Lannan (5-9) got his first win since May 18 at Baltimore, throwing six shutout innings on two hits while walking three. It was the southpaw's seventh quality start in his last eight games.

Kory Casto went 2-for-3 and knocked in two runs, while Dmitri Young added two hits and two runs scored to snap Washington's six-game losing streak.

Micah Owings (6-8) pitched well, giving up only one hit and three runs in 5 2/3 innings while striking out two. However, he gave up too many free passes to keep the lead, walking five and hitting three more batters in his start.

The righty left the game in the sixth with an apparent injury after pitching coach Bryan Price asked him if he was OK.

The Diamondbacks could only muster three hits - registering only 26 official at-bats in the game - and have lost five of eight. Arizona once again dropped below .500 at 45-46, barely hanging on to its first-place spot in the NL West.

Arizona has won three of four from the Nationals this season and is 10-3 in its last 13 meetings with them, including wins in five of its last six as the visitor.
