(Sports Network) - Roy Halladay hopes to add to Oakland's misery this evening when the Toronto Blue Jays open a four-game series against the Athletics at Rogers Centre.
However, Oakland, which enters tonight's tilt riding its second six-game losing streak in a month, has had success north of the border, winning seven straight there, including a three-game sweep from April 8-10.
Tonight, though, the A's face Halladay, who has dropped two of his last three decisions, but is 12-8 on the season with a 2.85 earned run average. Halladay was charged with the loss on Tuesday against Tampa Bay, as he allowed three runs and six hits in eight innings.
Halladay defeated the A's back on May 28, surrendering a run and eight hits in eight frames. For his career he is 5-4 against Oakland with a 4.90 ERA in 12 starts.
Toronto blew a four-run lead on Sunday, as it was dealt an 8-4 setback to Texas in the rubber match of a three-game set at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Adam Lind, Lyle Overbay and Brad Wilkerson each knocked in a run, while Matt Stairs went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Jays, who have dropped four of their last five.
David Purcey (1-2) took the loss as he was roughed up for five runs on three hits, all of which were homers, over five innings.
The A's, meanwhile, were swept in their second straight series on Sunday, as they fell 5-2 to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Daric Barton clubbed a two-run homer for Oakland, which has dropped 15 of its last 17 overall.
A loss tonight would give the A's their first seven-game slide since July 6-17, 2007.
Hoping to get Oakland off the schneid tonight will be righty Sean Gallagher, who makes his fifth start with the A's since being acquired from Chicago as part of the Rich Harden deal. He is 1-0 with a 3.22 ERA since the trade.
Gallagher did not get a decision in his last start on Wednesday against Kansas City, as he allowed three runs and five hits in five innings of his team's 4-3 loss.
He faced the Jays back on June 13 and was charged with a loss after allowing three runs and seven hits in five frames. This will be his second-ever appearance against them.
Oakland is 4-2 against the Blue Jays this season and is 15-10 in the series since the start of the 2006 campaign.
