Atlanta Braves (54-62) at Arizona Diamondbacks (59-57), 8:10 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Dan Haren will get a chance to prove he is worth the recent contract he signed when he leads the slumping Arizona Diamondbacks tonight in the third test of a four-game series versus the Atlanta Braves at Chase Field.

Haren agreed to terms this week on a four-year contract worth a reported $44.75 million that runs through the 2012 season with an option for 2013. His current four-start winning streak must have had something to do with the negotiations, as Haren is also unbeaten in five consecutive outings -- all Arizona victories.

The right-hander, acquired in an offseason trade with the Oakland Athletics, is 12-5 with a 2.75 earned run average in 23 starts this season. He last toed the rubber on August 4 versus Pittsburgh and held on for the win despite allowing four runs and eight hits in six innings of a 13-7 triumph. Haren, who is 9-2 in 12 home starts this season, is 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA in two career starts against the Braves.

The D'Backs hope Haren can help stop a three-game losing streak that has trimmed their NL West lead to just a half game over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Arizona dropped the opener of this series by a 6-4 score, then suffered an 11-6 setback in Friday's second test.

Alex Romero went 3-for-4 with a triple, double and two runs scored, while Chris Snyder drove in two runs for the Diamondbacks, who have lost five of their last seven games. Starter Doug Davis got the loss as he gave up seven runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings of work.

The Braves have won four of their last six games and got a big lift from Chipper Jones in last night's triumph. Jones returned from a stint on the disabled list because of a strained left hamstring, and belted a two-run homer and scored three times to lead the way.

Jones also raised his batting average to .371, which leads the majors.

Martin Prado had three RBI and Casey Kotchman went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and a pair of runs scored for the Braves, who got a decent performance from starting pitcher Jorge Campillo. Campillo got the win as he gave up five runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Atlanta will send struggling starter Jair Jurrjens to the mound on Saturday hoping he can break out of his recent slump. Jurrjens has dropped two straight starts and is just 2-4 over his last six decisions.

Jurrjens recently took the hill on August 4 against San Francisco and suffered the loss after giving up four runs -- three earned -- and nine hits in six innings of work.

The righty, who has yielded three or more runs in three of his last four trips to the mound, squared off with Arizona for the first time in his career on May 26 at Turner Field. Jurrjens allowed three runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings for the no-decision in a 7-3 victory.

These two clubs split a four-game series in Atlanta from May 23-26.
