Cleveland Indians (50-64) at Toronto Blue Jays (59-57), 1:07 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Roy Halladay has been solid all season for the Blue Jays, while the Indians' Paul Byrd has been lights out as of late. Those two will square off this afternoon, when Toronto continues a three-game set with Cleveland at Rogers Centre.

Halladay comes into today's start with a 13-8 mark this season and holds the American League's third best earned run average at 2.77. He won for the second time in three starts (2-1) on Monday versus Oakland, holding the Athletics to just a run over eight innings, also fanning eight while allowing four hits.

The 31-year-old right-hander, who has a 2.90 ERA in 10 home starts this year, is 5-1 with a 3.97 ERA in 11 games, including 10 starts, lifetime against the Indians, though he did lose to the club on May 9 after giving up four runs over six innings while striking out a season-high nine batters.

Halladay is third in the AL in strikeouts this year with 149.

Nobody has been hotter than Byrd as of late, though. The right-hander has won each of his last three starts, posting an impressive 0.90 ERA in that time. Byrd has given up just two runs and 19 hits over his last 20 innings and defeated Minnesota last Saturday. Byrd held the Twins to just a run on six hits over seven frames while not allowing a homer for a fourth straight start.

The 37-year-old has lowered his season ERA to 4.72 to go along with a 6-10 mark. However, he has a 6.00 ERA in 13 road starts this season and is 3-3 with a 3.05 ERA in six career outings versus Toronto.

Byrd will try to get Cleveland to .500 on its current nine-game road trip, as the club improved to 3-4 on the swing with last night's 5-2 win over Toronto. Anthony Reyes was impressive in his Cleveland debut, surrendering just one run on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Ben Francisco and Shin-Soo Choo had two RBI apiece for the Indians, who snapped a two-game skid while improving to 21-38 on the road this year. Choo finished 3-for-4 in the game.

Matt Stairs and Kevin Mench both had RBI singles for the Blue Jays, who had won four straight coming in thanks to a sweep of Oakland. Rod Barajas finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

David Purcey (1-3) picked up the loss after allowing three runs on six hits while walking two and fanning eight in six innings.

Scott Rolen will not start today's game for Toronto in order to rest his ailing left shoulder. Blue Jays manager Cito Gaston plans to give Rolen occasional days off, especially in day games that follow night tilts.

These two teams faced off in Cleveland back in May, with the Indians winning three of the four encounters. The Blue Jays did take two of three from the Tribe in Cleveland's only visit to Toronto last season.
