Toronto Blue Jays (63-60) at Boston Red Sox (71-52), 1:35 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Shaun Marcum will try to pitch the Toronto Blue Jays to a rain-shortened two-game sweep of the Boston Red Sox this afternoon at Fenway Park.

Boston's red-hot bats were silenced by former Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay on Saturday, as the right-hander tossed his major league-leading eighth complete game of the season in Toronto's 4-1 triumph.

Halladay (14-9) allowed seven hits and one run, while striking out four with a walk.

Alex Rios hit a two-run homer and Adam Lind smacked a solo shot for the Blue Jays, who have won four of their last five. Vernon Wells added an RBI single.

Dustin Pedroia homered and Jason Bay collected a pair of hits for the Red Sox, whose four-game win streak was halted.

Paul Byrd (7-11), making his Boston debut after coming over in a deal from Cleveland on Tuesday, was charged with 10 hits and four runs over 7 1/3 innings. He allowed two home runs while neither striking out nor walking a batter.

Marcum, meanwhile, has won his last two outings after a seven-start winless streak. He improved to 7-5 on the year Monday in Detroit, as he held the Tigers to a pair of runs and eight hits in six innings to drop his season earned run average to 3.42.

The 26-year-old righty defeated the Red Sox the last time he faced them and is 3-1 in his young career against them with a 3.00 ERA in nine games, four of which have been starts.

Boston will counter with ace Josh Beckett, who is 11-8 with a 3.92 ERA. Beckett also enters today's affair with wins in each of his last two starts after defeating the Chicago White Sox in his last trip to the hill on Monday. He surrendered just a run and seven hits in eight innings of that one.

Beckett lost to the Jays in his first start of the season and is 3-4 lifetime against them with a 4.92 ERA in nine starts.

Toronto has won five of its seven matchups with the Red Sox this season and nine of the last 11 meetings in this series dating back to last year.
