(Sports Network) - Hard-throwing right-hander Fausto Carmona makes his sixth start since returning from the disabled list tonight, when the Cleveland Indians travel to the Lone Star State for the first of three straight games against the Texas Rangers.
Carmona, who jumped from one win in 2006 to 19 a year ago, was 4-2 after a 13-9 loss to the Rangers on May 23. He then spent the next two months on the shelf with a strained hip.
He came back against the Minnesota Twins on July 26 and is just 1-3 in five comeback outings. Carmona picked up a tough-luck 4-3 loss in his last start after allowing just two earned runs in seven innings against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
It was just the second time in 54 career starts that Carmona registered no strikeouts.
For the Rangers, rookie southpaw Matt Harrison looks for a fourth straight victory.
The North Carolina native, who turned 23 last week, has won three in a row since a 2-2 start, including an eight-inning gem against Tampa Bay on his birthday -- August 16 -- after he allowed just three hits in a 3-0 triumph.
In the three latest wins combined, he has given up 18 hits and eight runs in 19 1/3 innings.
A third-round draft choice of the Atlanta Braves in 2003, Harrison is 3-1 in five home starts and 5-1 in seven starts on grass.
On Thursday in Cleveland, Grady Sizemore had a career-high seven runs batted in and Cliff Lee became the first 18-game winner in the AL as the Indians pounded the Kansas City Royals, 10-3, to complete a three-game sweep at Progressive Field.
Lee (18-2) continued his march to a Cy Young award as he became the second 18-game winner in the majors this year, joining Arizona's Brandon Webb with a seven-inning performance as he gave up three runs -- two earned -- on six hits with a pair of walks and seven strikeouts. He kept his earned run average at an MLB-best 2.43.
It was the fourth straight start Lee has won and moved him to 7-0 in his last eight starts.
Sizemore went 4-for-5 with a triple and hit his career-high 29th home run of the season, and Shin-Soo Choo smacked a two-run home run for the Indians, who have won four straight and five of six overall.
On Wednesday in Texas, Travis Metcalf homered twice, knocking in three runs, and Kevin Millwood went the distance, as the Rangers rolled past Detroit, 9-1, in the final contest of a three-game series.
Brandon Boggs, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley each hit a home run for the Rangers, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Millwood (7-7) limited Detroit to six hits and one run, fanning four with one walk, and finished a game for the second time this season.
Texas has won four of seven over Cleveland this season.
