Perkins went three innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out three. Phil Humber, who came to the Twins in the Johan Santana trade, yielded one hit while striking out three in two innings.

Randy Ruiz went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and Carlos Gomez finished 2-for-5 with an RBI triple for the Twins.
