Beijing, China (Sports Network) - Chan Ho Park and Justin Germano both pitched five strong innings, and the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres played to a 3-3 tie in the first Major League game ever contested in China.

It was the first of a two-game Spring Training series at Beijing's Wukesong Stadium, which will host the Olympic baseball competition in August.

Park allowed just one hit and one unearned run for the Dodgers while striking out three and giving up a walk. Germano yielded one run on five hits for the Padres, striking out five and also walking one.

The Dodgers held a 3-1 lead after 7 1/2 innings, keyed by George Lombard's solo homer in the third and RBI hits from Andruw Jones and Lucas May.

The Padres didn't get their first extra-base hits until the bottom of the eighth inning, when doubles by Scott Hairston, Craig Stansberry and Adrian Gonzalez tied the game at 3-3.

San Diego's Heath Bell and Los Angeles' Ramon Troncoso pitched scoreless ninth innings to preserve the tie.
