Fort Myers, FL (Sports Network) - Brad Thompson tossed five innings of two-run ball and four different Cardinals knocked two runs in as St. Louis defeated the Minnesota Twins, 8-4 in Grapefruit League action.

Ryan Ludwick crossed the plate three times, as Skip Schumaker, D'Angelo Jimenez, Jason LaRue and Cesar Izturis all batted in two RBI in the Cardinals' victory.

Michael Cuddyer and Delmon Young plated two RBI of their own for the Twins, while starter Brian Bass pitched three innings, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks in a no-decision. Dennys Reyes picked up the loss after allowing three hits and a run in his only inning on the hill.
