Winter Haven, FL (Sports Network) - Paul Byrd pitched into the seventh inning and the Cleveland Indians benefited from a pair of three-run homers to top the New York Yankees, 7-5, in Grapefruit League play.

Byrd was effective in the early frames, and worked through a bases-loaded, no- out jam in the fifth. He lasted 6 1/3 innings overall and allowed five runs -- four earned -- on 10 hits with three walks and a strikeout. Ryan Garko and Andy Marte each had a three-run shot, with Marte's putting the Tribe ahead in the bottom of the eighth.

Ian Kennedy got the start for New York and yielded four runs -- none of them earned -- on five hits in 4 2/3 innings. He also walked four and struck out three. Robinson Cano had a pair of RBI doubles and added another hit to raise his spring batting average to .464 for the Yankees.
