American League Game Summary - Seattle at Baltimore

Final Score: Seattle 4 - Baltimore 7

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Melvin Mora hit a two-run homer and Luis Hernandez also drove in a pair of runs as Baltimore topped Seattle, 7-4, in the opener of a four-game set at Camden Yards.

Ramon Hernandez and Kevin Millar finished 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored each for the Orioles, who have won two straight games.

Steve Trachsel (1-0) earned the win, allowing four hits and two runs over 5 2/3 innings in his first start of the season. George Sherrill picked up his second save by retiring two batters in the ninth.

Adrian Beltre and Richie Sexson both hit two-run shots for the Mariners, who have dropped two of their last three.

Seattle starter Jarrod Washburn (0-1) took the loss, charged with six hits and three runs in five full frames.

Baltimore put the game away with a three-run seventh inning.

Cha Seung Baek walked Brian Roberts to start, and Mora brought him in with a two-run homer which gave the Orioles a 6-2 edge. Ryan Rowland-Smith then entered and induced a fly out from Nick Markakis.

Millar singled, then Aubrey Huff doubled down the left-field line, forcing Roy Corcoran to enter the game. He got Jay Payton to fly out, then Ramon Hernandez struck out but on the wild pitch, Millar scored and Huff moved to third. Adam Jones lined out to right but the damage was done.

Chad Bradford and Jamie Walker combined for a scoreless eighth.

Greg Aquino made things interesting in the ninth, allowing a Raul Ibanez single followed by Sexson's two-run homer. Beltre flew out, but after a Mike Morse double, he was lifted. Sherill closed out the game by inducing Jose Vidro into a pop out to first and Kenji Johjima on a foul out to left.

The O's had two men on in their first at-bat but failed to capitalize. That wasn't the case in the second, as Baltimore picked up the game's first run on a Luis Hernandez sacrifice fly.

Beltre pushed the Mariners on top with a one-out, two-run homer to left in the fourth, but another Hernandez sac fly pulled the home team even in the bottom half.

Millar's solo blast in the fifth put Baltimore up 3-2, and a Ramon Hernandez homer in the sixth boosted the Oriole lead to two.
