American League Game Summary - Tampa Bay at Baltimore

Final Score: Tampa Bay 4 - Baltimore 2

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Carl Crawford's two-run single in the seventh proved to be the game-winner as the Tampa Bay Rays doubled up the Baltimore Orioles, 4-2, in the conclusion of a three-game set at Camden Yards.

Crawford finished 2-for-4 with a run scored while Carlos Pena drove in a run and Jonny Gomes hit a solo home run for the Rays, who have won two straight and eight of their last nine games. Matt Garza (1-0) got the win as he gave up just two runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts in six innings of work.

"He did a nice job, except for the one pitch to (Adam) Jones," said Tampa Bay coach Joe Maddon. "A lot of strike-throwing, his velocity has always been there. He used his fastball a lot which I like."

Tampa Bay closer Troy Percival picked up save No. 330 in his career, which ties him for 10th place on the all-time list with John Wetteland

Adam Jones hit a two-run home run while Brian Burres (3-2) suffered the loss for giving up four runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts in six-plus innings of work for the Orioles, who have dropped four of their last five games.

With the game tied in the seventh, the Rays grabbed the lead in the frame. Shawn Riggans led off with a walk and Jason Bartlett followed with a single to center. The runners wound up on second and third on the play as Jones misplayed the ball.

Jamie Walker took the mound in relief of Burres and got Akinori Iwamura to strike out, but Crawford stepped to the plate and smacked a single to center that plated both runners for a 4-2 lead.

Dan Wheeler retired the Orioles in order in the seventh and eighth innings, while Percival worked a perfect ninth to pick up his sixth save of the season.

"The whole bullpen has been doing a great job all year, but those two guys (Wheeler/Percival) in particular have been pretty much spectacular," said Maddon.

The Rays got on the board in the first inning as Pena's ground out scored Crawford for a 1-0 lead.

Tampa Bay made it a 2-0 game in the fourth inning when Gomes ripped the first pitch he saw over the left field wall.

However, the Orioles tied the game in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Aubrey Huff ripped a double to left and Jones followed with a blast deep into the left field seats to make it a 2-2 game.
