Final Score: NY Mets 4 - Arizona 10
Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Augie Ojeda went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a career-high six RBI, and Brandon Webb became the first seven- game winner in the majors this season, as Arizona used a late rally to roll over the New York Mets, 10-4, at Chase Field.
Ojeda started in place of Orlando Hudson, who injured his hamstring in Friday night's contest, and helped Arizona take the second installment of this three- game set.
"I'm shocked. It's pretty tough to get three or four in a game, so having six is pretty special," Ojeda said. "But the biggest thing is we won the game."
Justin Upton had two hits, three walks, an RBI and scored three times, while Stephen Drew, Chris Young, Conor Jackson and Chris Snyder each collected two hits for the Diamondbacks, who pounded out 15 overall.
Webb (7-0), who earlier Saturday was named the National League pitcher of the month for April, picked up the win after giving up four runs on five hits in six innings of work. He also matched Randy Johnson's 2000 franchise record for most consecutive victories to start a season.
Mike Pelfrey (2-2) allowed five runs on nine hits and four walks in five frames, and took the loss. Duaner Sanchez got just one out and gave up five runs in a disastrous eighth inning for New York, which has lost two of three.
Carlos Delgado hit a three-run homer, while Ryan Church had two hits and Carlos Beltran scored twice.
Arizona was protecting a one-run lead heading into the bottom of the eighth, when the club blew the game open. Young, Drew, and Eric Byrnes had consecutive singles to load the bases with no outs.
Then, Sanchez threw an offspeed pitch well short of the plate, and the ball bounced by catcher Raul Casanova, allowing Young to score.
Jackson flied to left for the first out, but Upton came up with a single to plate Drew for a 7-4 Arizona edge. Sanchez followed that up by walking Mark Reynolds to re-load the bases, ending the reliever's day.
Scott Schoeneweis came in, but had his first pitch sliced down the line in right by Ojeda to bring home two more runs. A Snyder sacrifice fly scored Reynolds to boost Arizona to a 10-4 lead, and the rally ended there.
"We got the big three-run home run from Delgado and I thought we had a shot to win," Mets manager Willie Randolph said. "But the bullpen couldn't hold them and they opened up the flood gates."
Brandon Lyon pitched a scoreless ninth for Arizona.
The Mets put a run on the scoreboard in the second inning, when Casanova plated Beltran with an RBI single to center.
Arizona took the lead in the bottom half. Jackson and Upton started with walks, and a Reynolds grounder advanced them to scoring position. Ojeda then laced a single that was deflected by Delgado into right to bring both runners home.
The Diamondbacks then built on their 2-1 lead in the middle innings. Drew punched a single to left in the fourth that brought in Snyder, and in the fifth, Jackson got another rally started with a single. After he stole second, Upton walked. Reynolds struck out, but Ojeda ripped a double to right to bring around two more runs for a 5-1 Arizona lead -- runs that proved to be critical in the very next inning.
Church singled with one out, and Webb looked like he might get out of the inning by getting David Wright to fly out. But Beltran walked to put two men on, and Delgado ripped a fastball that hung high and tailed over the middle of the plate into the seats in right, just inside the foul pole to bring the Mets within 5-4.
