National League Game Summary - New York at Atlanta, Game Two

Final Score: NY Mets 2 - Atlanta 6

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Jorge Campillo threw six shutout innings to record his first major league victory, as the Braves completed a doubleheader sweep of the Mets with a 6-2 triumph in a contest marred by a collision at the conclusion.

In the day game, Tom Glavine hurled six solid innings, and Brian McCann homered and drove in three runs as Atlanta won, 6-1.

Damion Easley grounded into a double play to end the nightcap, but New York right fielder Ryan Church and Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar were hurt on the play. Church, who was on first after a single, tried to break up the double play with a slide. Escobar, racing toward first after he fielded the ball, had his knee collide with Church, who was left with a bloody forehead after it scraped off the dirt. Both Church and Escobar had to be helped off the field.

Church was diagnosed with a minor concussion and was taken to Piedmont Hospital. Escobar was limping in the locker room after bruising his right knee.

Mark Kotsay homered and Kelly Johnson drove in two runs for the Braves, winners of three in a row overall and owners of a 4-0 home mark against their NL East rival this season.

"Just to build on like that and give us a little sigh of relief, beautiful way to end the night and this long day," Johnson said.

Campillo (1-0) allowed three hits and struck out seven without walking a batter. The 29-year-old was making his second career start and first since August 2, 2005 versus Detroit.

"He's fabulous," Johnson said of Campillo. "He keeps them off balance and throws strikes, moves it in and out. He's done it since being called up. I don't know what's been missing before, but I'm happy he's on our team."

Manny Acosta threw the final 1 1/3 innings for his third save.

Claudio Vargas (0-2) was saddled with the loss after yielding five hits and four runs over five innings.

Ramon Castro and Jose Reyes each had an RBI for the Mets, who had beaten the Yankees in two games over the weekend.

"It's tough to lose two games in a doubleheader," Mets third baseman David Wright said. "We had all the momentum in the world coming into this series and couldn't do anything with it. Our record (22-21) shows it."

The start of the game was delayed 98 minutes by rain, but the Braves opened the game's scoring in the top of the first. Escobar led off with a single and scored on a Chipper Jones double to left.

Vargas ran into more trouble in the third, walking Omar Infante with one out and allowing consecutive singles to Jones and Mark Teixeira for a 2-0 deficit. Johnson followed with a two-run triple down the right field line.

The Mets scored twice in the eighth thanks to a Castro RBI double and a Reyes run-scoring base hit up the middle. However, with runners on first and second, Marlon Anderson grounded out to end the inning.

Corky Miller singled with one out in the bottom half against Matt Wise, and Kotsay followed with a shot over the wall in right.
