MLB Game Summary - Cleveland at LA Dodgers

Final Score: Cleveland 7 - Los Angeles 2

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Jhonny Peralta batted 3-for-5 and drove in a run in Cleveland's six-run 11th inning, as the Indians beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-2, in the second contest of a three-game interleague set.

Casey Blake added two hits and an RBI in the late rally by the Indians, who won the first game of this series in 10 innings, by a 6-4 score. Cleveland's two straight wins come after a sweep at the hands of Colorado earlier this week.

"Jamey (Carroll) did a great job of starting off the inning and Jhonny (Peralta) came up with the big hit," Blake said. "We've shown some pretty good heart these last couple of days."

C.C. Sabathia did not get a decision after allowing one run on five hits, with 10 strikeouts, in seven innings. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner also hit his second career home run. Masa Kobayashi (4-3) pitched a scoreless 10th inning to get the win for Cleveland.

"I was able to pound the strike zone," Sabathia said. "I was able to command the inside part of the plate. The way we've been playing, getting two wins here is big."

Cory Wade (0-1) took the loss for the Dodgers, giving up two runs in 1 1/3 innings of work. Scott Proctor failed to record an out in his 11th-inning appearance, and gave up four runs on three hits for the Dodgers, who have lost seven of 10.

Dodgers starter Chan Ho Park lasted five innings and gave up only one run -- Sabathia's homer -- on three hits, while striking out a season-high nine batters.

Matt Kemp hit a solo homer, while James Loney doubled and drove in Los Angeles' other run.

In the 11th with the score tied at a run apiece, back-to-back singles from Jamey Carroll and Ben Francisco opened the frame before Wade got Ryan Garko out on a liner to short. But Wade was then lifted for Proctor, who immediately gave up an RBI single to Peralta.

Blake followed with another RBI single, and after Shin-Soo Choo was intentionally walked to load the bases, Kelly Shoppach plated two more runs with another single to make the score 5-1.

After another Proctor walk re-loaded the bases, Ramon Troncoso was brought in to prevent further damage. But Grady Sizemore became the sixth consecutive Cleveland batter to reach base, as he singled in Choo to make it 6-1. The Indians added one more run, on a sacrifice fly from Carroll, but Jorge Velandia was thrown out at third on the play to end the inning.

Loney's RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the 11th got one run back for the Dodgers, but Scott Elarton got Luis Maza to pop out to end the game.

In the third inning, Sabathia -- whose only other homer came in 2005 against Cincinnati -- launched the ball deep into the right field stands for a 1-0 Indians lead.

"I was counting the days in May until I could hit." Sabathia said. "I didn't take any swings because I couldnt find my helmet. I was looking for a fastball. It felt good; it was awesome."

The Dodgers offense struggled all day, as only one runner reached third in the entire game aside from Kemp, whose solo homer in the bottom of the sixth tied the game.

The game remained at a standstill until the ninth, when the Indians threatened to take the lead after a Peralta double and a Blake single put runners on the corners with one out. But Choo grounded into a double play to end the threat for Cleveland, and the game eventually went into extra innings.
