National League Game Summary - Arizona at Washington

Final Score: Arizona 0 - Washington 5

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Jesus Flores blasted a pinch-hit three- run homer and John Lannan had another excellent start, giving the Nationals a 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks.

Lannan (5-9) got his first win since May 18 at Baltimore, throwing six shutout innings on two hits while walking three. It was the southpaw's seventh quality start in his last eight games.

Thats all I care about is going out and getting a win. It doesn't matter when my I got my last win," Lannan said. "I just had to make pitches in the right situations and I got a couple double plays. I just went out there and battled today without my best stuff."

Kory Casto went 2-for-3 and knocked in two runs, while Dmitri Young added two hits and two runs scored to snap Washington's six-game losing streak.

Micah Owings (6-8) pitched well, giving up only one hit and three runs in 5 2/3 innings while striking out two. However, he gave up too many free passes to keep the lead, walking five and hitting three more batters in his start.

The righty left the game in the sixth with an apparent injury after pitching coach Bryan Price asked him if he was okay.

"I obviously wasn't sharp. I just kept fighting. I just wasn't consistent," Owings said. "I'm going to keep working because I know I got it. I will just keep grinding it out."

The Diamondbacks could only muster three hits - registering only 26 official at-bats in the game - and have lost five of eight. Arizona once again dropped below .500 at 45-46, falling into a first-place tie with Los Angeles in the NL West.

"All our guys were frustrated," Arizona manager Bob Melvin said. "You obviously have to give credit to Lannan. He's pitched well all year, and his record would not indicate how well he has pitched. We couldn't seem to get decent swings, let alone decent at-bats tonight."

Owings got himself into a bit of trouble in the second, hitting two batters after a single to load the bases for Casto, who promptly walked to give the Nationals their first run against the Diamondbacks after being shut out for 28 innings over four games by Arizona.

Connor Robertson came in to relieve Owings in the sixth after his apparent injury, but could not keep the deficit at one. Owings walked two batters to put runners on first and second, and Robertson allowed a two-out double to Casto, plating a run and giving Washington a 2-0 lead.

Flores came up next to pinch-hit for Lannan and gave the Nationals some breathing room, blasting a home run off Robertson to left.
