American League Game Summary - Baltimore at Boston

Final Score: Baltimore 7 - Boston 3

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Brandon Fahey and Melvin Mora each drove in a pair of runs as Baltimore topped Boston, 7-3, in the opener of a three-game set at Fenway Park.

Brian Roberts went 3-for-5 -- finishing a home run short of a cycle -- drove in a run and scored twice for the Orioles, who put an end to a five-game losing skid. Adam Jones and Aubrey Huff also knocked in a run each.

"He's not going to New York as an All-Star but he's an All-Star player for us and he's an All-Star player for me," Baltimore manager Dave Trembley said of Roberts. "What he does for the club and what he does to make the team go, speaks for itself. The way he played tonight was pretty darn good, pretty darn good."

Starter Brian Burres (7-5) got the win, allowing six hits and three runs over 6 1/3 innings. George Sherrill picked up his 28th save by recording the final out of the contest.

Julio Lugo knocked in two runs for the Red Sox, whose three-game win streak came to a halt. Brandon Moss added two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Clay Buchholz (2-4), who was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket prior to the game Friday, took the loss after yielding five hits and four runs with six strikeouts and five walks in five full frames.

"I think most of it was nerves," said Buchholz. "I hadn't been that nervous in a long time that I recall. So, I was rushing a little bit to the plate, coming out of the windup and the stretch. I talked to (pitching coach) John (Farrell) in between innings. He said stay back a little longer and I took care of everything else."

Against Manny Delcarmen in the eighth, the Orioles loaded the bases with two outs via a Mora hit-by-pitch, a free pass to Luke Scott and a walk to Ramon Hernandez. Fahey punched a single through the right side to plate a pair and give the visitors a 6-3 lead.

Jones singled to start the ninth off Mike Timlin, then came around to score later on a sacrifice fly from Mora, which put the O's ahead by four.

Jim Johnson retired the first two outs in Boston's final at-bat before Lugo's infield single and Fahey's error on Jacoby Ellsbury's grounder put two men on. Sherrill came in and walked Dustin Pedroia but fanned Kevin Youkilis swinging to quell the rally.

Baltimore picked up a pair of runs in the first. Roberts led off with a double and scored on a sac fly from Jones. After a pair of walks to Nick Markakis and Huff, Mora's RBI single off the Green Monster plated Markakis.

In the second, Sean Casey could have had a two-run home run to right field, but umpires determined fan interference was the reason the ball went over the low wall. He settled for a ground-rule double. Moss followed with a single to halve Boston's deficit, then Lugo's groundout scored Casey with the tying run.

The Sox took a 3-2 lead in the fourth as Jason Varitek singled with one out and came home on a Lugo groundout, but the O's struck back to take the lead in the fifth on Roberts' RBI triple and a sac fly by Huff.
