National League Game Summary - Milwaukee at St. Louis

Final Score: Milwaukee 4 - St. Louis 3

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Bill Hall provided the late-inning heroics for Milwaukee for the second consecutive game, this time with a game-winning home run in the ninth, as the Brewers edged the Cardinals, 4-3, in the second installment of a four-game series between two teams in the loaded National League Central.

Both teams are in the chase for first place. The Brewers are now one game back of Chicago after taking their sixth straight contest. St. Louis fell to two games back of first by dropping the first two games of this series. The Cubs lost to Arizona, 9-2, on Tuesday.

Prince Fielder was the catalyst for Milwaukee, breaking up Kyle Lohse's perfect game with a single in the fifth. He later added an RBI single. J.J. Hardy was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored while Rickie Weeks doubled and scored once with an RBI. Brian Shouse (4-1) earned the win with a perfect eighth.

Ryan Ludwick hit a solo home run while Rick Ankiel and Yadier Molina had run- scoring hits for St. Louis.

Ron Villone entered in the ninth to retire Fielder on strikes before Kyle McClellan (2-5) came on and induced Kapler into a ground out, but Hall clobbered a home run to center field for a 4-3 lead. Hall started a three-run rally in the 10th with a home run in Milwaukee's 6-3 win over St. Louis Monday.

Salomon Torres set down the Cardinal bats in the ninth with two ground outs and a weakly hit fly ball to record his 18th save of the season.

Lohse pitched masterfully but the Brewers chipped away enough to leave him with a disappointing no-decision. He allowed three runs on seven hits without walking a batter over eight innings while recording seven strikeouts.

Jeff Suppan pitched well after getting into trouble early, surrendering three runs on eight hits and two walks in his first start since July 6. Suppan was reinstated from the disabled list prior to Tuesday's game.

The Cardinals scored a pair of runs to take an early lead in the first. Ludwick deposited a first-pitch fastball from Suppan deep into the seats in left-center for his 23rd home run of the season. Albert Pujols followed by lining a double to center and Ankiel bounced a ball between first and second for an infield single, allowing Pujols to score.

St. Louis added a run in the third. Troy Glaus worked a one-out walk and crossed home on a two-out, RBI double to right from Molina.

Lohse was perfect through four innings but a Fielder single to start the fifth ended any hopes of a storybook start. The righty bounced back to get Gabe Kapler swinging and Hall looking before Mike Cameron flied out to end the inning.

Lohse recorded a perfect sixth but Hardy led off the seventh with a double to left and Ryan Braun beat out an infield single up the third base line. Fielder then ripped an RBI single to left but Kapler grounded into a momentum- killing double play and Hall went down on strikes to end the inning.

Milwaukee, however, tied the game at three in the eighth. Jason Kendall singled back through the middle with one away and Weeks sliced an RBI double to left. Hardy then tied it with an RBI single to left.
