Final Score: Colorado 11 - Cincinnati 0
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Garrett Atkins hit a two-run home run and drove in three runs as the Colorado Rockies destroyed the Cincinnati Reds, 11-0, to complete a three-game sweep at Great American Ball Park.
Jeff Baker scored three times and hit a two-run homer, Scott Podsednik had three hits, scoring twice and Chris Iannetta hit a solo home run for the Rockies, who have won five straight and nine of 10 overall.
Ubaldo Jimenez (7-9) went six innings and gave up just five hits to combine with three other pitchers on a six-hit shutout.
Adam Dunn had a pair of hits while Josh Fogg (2-3), who played with Colorado last season, was banged up for seven runs on eight hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work for the Reds, who have lost five of seven overall.
The Rockies grabbed the lead in the third inning. Podsednik led off with a walk, Baker followed with a single and, after Matt Holliday looked at strike three, Brad Hawpe worked a walk to load the bases. Atkins then lofted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Podsednik. After Ian Stewart walked to again load the bases, Troy Tulowitzki punched a single to left that brought home Baker and Hawpe for a 3-0 lead.
Colorado tacked on four more runs in the fourth. Podsednik hit a one-out single and Baker followed by crushing a 1-2 slider into the left field stands. Holliday then beat out an infield single and, after Hawpe flied out to center, Atkins crushed the first pitch he saw deep into the left field seats for a 7-0 advantage. Todd Coffey then took the mound and got Stewart to ground out to end the inning.
Iannetta smacked a solo home run in the fifth inning to extend Colorado's lead to 8-0.
The Reds got runners on first and second in the fifth on singles by Joey Votto and Jay Bruce, but Corey Patterson flied out and Jeff Keppinger hit into a fielder's choice to end the inning.
Cincinnati again threatened in the sixth as Brandon Phillips was hit by a pitch and Dunn doubled to put men on second and third with one out, but Edwin Encarnacion popped out and Votto flied out to strand the runners.
The Rockies put three more runs on the scoreboard in the eighth as Seth Smith hit into a fielder's choice that plated Baker and Clint Barmes later smacked a pinch-hit, two-run double to left for an 11-0 lead.
