American League Game Summary - Cleveland at Toronto

Final Score: Cleveland 4 - Toronto 2

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Paul Byrd continued his dominating second half by throwing his fifth consecutive quality start to lead the Indians to a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Byrd (7-10), who has lowered his earned run average from 5.53 to 4.53 in five starts, threw his first complete game since September 1, 2007 on only 94 pitches. The 37-year-old allowed two runs on five hits while striking out two for his fourth consecutive win.

"I had a good curveball going," Byrd said. "(Getting) some first pitch strikes on my curveball was a key. I had a good changeup, too."

Ryan Garko went 2-for-4 with a couple runs batted in and David Dellucci added three hits and an RBI for Cleveland's third win in five games.

Roy Halladay (13-9) failed to go seven full innings for the first time in four starts, going 6 2/3 innings on four runs - one earned - on 10 hits and a season-high 130 pitches. The righty fanned six and walked two, dropping to 0-2 on the year against Cleveland.

"I threw a lot of pitches in six innings-plus. It was a grind," Halladay said. "We got a couple (of runs) early, and (Byrd) settled down and pitched very well against us after that, so that made it tough."

Joe Inglett starred for the Jays against his former team, going 3-for-4 while scoring a run. Marco Scutaro and Brad Wilkerson added an RBI apiece as Toronto dropped the first two games of the series after sweeping Oakland earlier in the week.

The Blue Jays got an early lead thanks to some shaky defense. Inglett led off with a blooper that skipped past Shin-Soo Choo in right field, allowing Inglett to race to third safely. Scutaro followed with a sacrifice fly to center for a 1-0 lead.

Toronto added another run in the second when Wilkerson hit an RBI double down the right field line to score Lyle Overbay, who had singled.

Choo got things started for the Indians in the fourth with a double. Two batters later Garko got the Tribe on the board with an RBI double to center.

Cleveland was able to gain the lead in the sixth. Jhonny Peralta led off with a single, and Choo reached when John McDonald made an errant throw to second base, leaving both runners safe. After a sacrifice bunt by Ben Francisco, Garko singled to left to score Peralta and tie the game at two.

Andy Marte followed with an RBI single to right to give the Indians their first lead of the game at 3-2. Asdrubal Cabrera walked, and two batters later Dellucci also walked to force home Cleveland's fourth run.
