National League Game Summary - Florida at Atlanta

Final Score: Florida 9 - Atlanta 10

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Yunel Escobar hit the game-winning RBI single to cap a four-run ninth and lift the Atlanta Braves over the Florida Marlins, 10-9, in the first of a three-game set at Turner Field.

Omar Infante scored three runs on three hits and knocked in a run for the Braves, who won for just the second time in 10 games.

Cody Ross belted a two-run homer and finished with three hits and four RBI for the Marlins, who fell to 3-4 on a nine-game road trip.

"It is a back-breaking loss, said Florida's Luis Gonzalez. "You've got to give the Braves some credit. They seem to get big hits when they need them. They rallied and Escobar got a big hit."

Kevin Gregg (6-7) suffered the defeat and blew his seventh save of the season after being tagged for four runs on five hits and a walk in his sole inning of action.

The Braves came to the plate in the bottom of the ninth trailing by a 9-6 margin. Gregg, who came on for the final out of the eighth, took the mound in an effort to close it out. He surrendered a leadoff single to Infante and when Martin Prado followed with a double, Infante crossed the plate.

Gregg's troubles didn't stop there. He allowed an RBI single off the bat of Jeff Francoeur that drew the hosts within 9-8 and another base hit by Kelly Johnson put runners on second and third. Pinch-hitter Mark Kotsay was intentionally walked with one out to loaded the bases and Gregor Blanco grounded into a fielder's choice that allowed Francoeur to tie the game.

With two outs and runners on the corners, Escobar's base hit to right field scored Johnson for the winning run as the Braves bench celebrated.

"It was great -- we had a lot of fun tonight," said Blanco. "We didn't have any pressure and that's the way we should play."

Will Ohman (4-0) earned the win after allowing a run on two hits in one inning of work.

The Braves scored three runs in the first inning. Chipper Jones doubled home Escober and then scored on a single by Infante. A double by Prado moved Infante to third and he came home on a grounder off the bat of Francoeur.

Florida, though, scored six runs over the next two innings to grab a 6-3 lead.

After Ross' two-run blast in the top of the second, the visitors produced four runs in the third. Hanley Ramirez led off with a triple and scored when Luis Gonzalez followed with a two-base hit. Jorge Cantu singled and Josh Willingham was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Dan Uggla's single scored Gonzalez. With the bases still loaded and no outs, Mike Jacobs grounded into a 6-4 double play but Cantu scored on the play. The rally was capped by an RBI single off the bat of Ross.

A Clint Sammons RBI base hit in the home sixth brought the Braves within 6-4, but Florida scored two in the seventh -- courtesy of Jacobs' two-run blast over the wall in right-center field -- for an 8-4 edge.

In the bottom of the eighth the Braves climbed within two on a pair of bases- loaded walks, one by Arthur Rhodes and the other by Alfredo Amezaga.

Florida's ninth run was scored in the top of the ninth on a Ross RBI double.
