Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Tim Redding had a no-hitter through five innings, and Ryan Zimmerman hit a two-run home run as Washington topped Philadelphia, 7-4, to win its season-high seventh straight game.

Redding (10-8) didn't keep up his dominant pace, but still took the win after allowing three runs on two hits and three walks in 5 2/3 frames, with two strikeouts.

Willie Harris, Cristian Guzman and Jesus Flores each finished with two hits and an RBI, while Lastings Milledge added a two-run single for Washington in the opener of this three-game set.

Kyle Kendrick (11-8) struggled with his control and took the loss, after allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks in just four innings.

"He didn't get in the flow of the game," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said of Kendrick. "He had no tempo, no rhythm. He never got into the game. He never got comfortable."

Jimmy Rollins homered and Ryan Howard doubled and drove in a run for the Phillies, who had won two straight. Because the Mets beat Milwaukee earlier Monday, Philadelphia fell to two games back of New York for first place in the NL East.

In the home first, Zimmerman walked with one out and a man on first. A Kendrick wild pitch allowed the runners to advance into scoring position for Milledge, who laced a single to center to give Washington a 2-0 lead.

The Nationals surged ahead in the fourth. Harris smoked a triple off the wall in right field with a man on first and two outs, and Guzman followed with a double down the right field line to plate another run.

Zimmerman then crushed a homer to straight-away center field to give the Nationals a 6-0 advantage.

"I just couldn't get that last out, ended up giving up four runs," Kendrick said. "It was frustrating."

The Phillies, though, threatened in the sixth. Shane Victorino beat out an infield single with one down -- the club's first hit of the day. After a fly out, Victorino stole second, and advanced to third when Flores' throw to second went about 15 feet to the left of the base. Howard roped a double to the wall in right field to score the run.

Jayson Werth worked a walk to force Redding out as Charlie Manning entered. But he hit pinch-hitter Pedro Feliz to load the bases, and was removed for Marco Estrada, who walked pinch-hitter Pat Burrell to force in a run.

Estrada then hit Chris Coste with a pitch, bringing the Phillies within 6-3. But pinch-hitter Carlos Ruiz grounded out to third to end the threat.

Saul Rivera worked around a two-out single in the seventh to keep Philadelphia from getting any closer, and in the home seventh Flores doubled in Elijah Dukes to provide further insurance for Washington.

Steven Shell set the Phillies down in order in the eighth, and Jesus Colome gave up a two-out solo homer to Rollins in the ninth, but got Victorino to ground out to end the game.
