NBA - Kevin Love: "I am ready!"

Odds & News | Webmaster ( Tue 15th, December 2009 )

Kevin Love walked off the floor at New Orleans Arena after the shoot around and confirmed that he is ready to play after missing the first 18 games of the season due to a broken left hand.

Love will wear a black padded glove to protect the back of his hand and will come off the bench for Minnesota. Love said, "I will leave it up to him (coach Rambis). This depends on how much time he thinks I will play."

Love confirmed that he is "actually excited, anxious" to play for the first time for his 2-16 team. Love added, "Six weeks of sitting out, that is a long time." Love hasn't played a game since breaking his hand in a preseason game in Chicago on October 16, 2009.

After Thursday's practice, Rambis decided to play Love. Love said that he decided after "listening to Brian Cardinal, my body and I". Cardinal told him that game action was the best way to play his self back into shape. Love also said that the full practices throughout the week even getting his hand creased against the backboard on Thursday with no pain has convinced him that his hand is fully healed. Though his legs and lungs are not yet back in game form.

"It is good to have him back." Forward Al Jefferson said, who refers to Love as %u2018son'. %u201CIt is always good to be playing beside Kevin Love." Love is making his return around the same time that Jefferson finished last season. Jefferson who tore his anterior circulate knee tendon late in a game against the Hornets last year.

He said, "Nah, not about to think about that". When asked about his feelings about returning to the scene where he leaped across the court holding his knee after he landed awkwardly on his right leg after trying to block a shot. "Don't even want to think about it. This could have happened anywhere." It happened at this place where Jefferson's friends and family came from his Mississippi hometown to see him play.

Jefferson estimates that his fan club was around 60 people for that game last February. He supposes that 30 will come from Mississippi for this game. When referring to the injury, "Why aren't they all coming back this year. Love is not the only boy who's returning tonight."

For the Hornets, All Star Guard Chris Paul has missed 8 games with an injured ankle, but he is considered to be a game time decision.
