(Sports Network) - Two teams headed for an early summer vacation meet tonight, as the Miami Heat host the Los Angeles Clippers at AmericanAirlines Arena.
This is the second and final meeting of the campaign between the clubs. On December 9, Dwyane Wade scored 35 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the Heat over the Clippers, 100-94, at the Staples Center.
The last time the Heat swept the season series from the Clippers was during the 2003-04 campaign. These two teams have split the last six meetings held in Miami.
Miami opens a four-game homestand tonight and has dropped four straight contests. On Saturday, Joe Johnson scored 39 points and the Atlanta Hawks won a doubleheader against the Heat, posting a 97-94 victory in their regularly- scheduled contest at Philips Arena.
Ricky Davis had 27 points and Wade totaled 24 points and eight assists for the Heat, who have dropped 31 of their last 34 games. Shawn Marion chipped in 14 points and 13 rebounds for Miami, which also got 13 points from Mark Blount in defeat.
Before the game, the Hawks held on for a 114-111 overtime win in a contest that was suspended on December 19 after the Heat won a protest to replay the final 51.9 seconds of the extra session. Neither team scored in the time that was replayed.
Miami is a dismal 6-24 at home this season. The Heat will also host New York, Orlando and Dallas on its current homestand.
Wade (sore left knee), Marcus Banks (strained right hamstring) and Udonis Haslem (sprained left ankle) are all questionable to play tonight for the Heat.
Los Angeles has lost two in a row and begins a five-game road trip this evening. Al Jefferson had 30 points and 12 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves held on for a 99-96 win against the Clippers Saturday at the Staples Center.
Corey Maggette finished with 29 points and rookie Al Thornton collected 18 points and seven rebounds for the Clippers, who have dropped eight of their last nine games overall.
The Clippers are 8-19 on the road this season. They will also visit Orlando, Atlanta, Washington and Minnesota on the swing.
