Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett each scored 18 points to lead Boston to its 10th straight victory, its longest string in over two decades, with a 111-82 blowout of the Seattle SuperSonics.
This is Boston's longest winning streak since March 11 - April 4, 1986, when the Celtics won 14 in a row. That was on the way to a 67-win season and their last NBA championship.
Paul Pierce netted 14 points and 11 assists, while Eddie House scored 11 and James Posey had 10 points for the Celtics, who haven't lost since February 22 at Phoenix, which was the end of a season-worst three-game skid.
The Celtics have also won their last 11 home games and are 29-4 at TD Banknorth Garden this season.
"I can't really say any specific thing, but I think we did a really excellent job moving the ball offensively, and defensively we took them out of their comfort zone," Allen said. "I think early in the game they ran at us, and they got a lot of stuff easy in transition. Then we just got back and limited their shots to the basket and we rebounded well tonight."
Kevin Durant had 16 points to pace the Sonics, losers of six straight and 10 of their last 11 games. Johan Petro tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Sonics, who also got 11 points and seven assists from Earl Watson.
"Guys still have to learn from plays, Kevin Durant was doubled, a lot of deflections, a lot of turnovers, we didn't get good shots," Seattle coach P.J. Carlesimo said. "To me it was night and day. We were playing well at first, then they started doubling and increased intensity on defense, because of aggressive defense and good ball pressure, we couldn't deliver the ball."
The Celtics scored 10 in a row to grab a 27-19 lead in the opening quarter. Allen's three-pointer started the burst and Leon Powe's layup ended it with 2:32 left in the period. It was 34-24 after 12 minutes.
Boston continued to expand its lead, moving ahead 44-27 following another Powe layup, and the margin stood at 64-44 at the half following a Garnett jam in the closing minute.
The Celtics continued to have their way with the Sonics in the third, surging to a 30-point lead at 88-58 following consecutive buckets by Allen, the final one a driving layup with 2:33 left in the period.
Posey's jumper in the final minute of the period made it 92-60 going into the fourth, and Allen's putback slam with 10 minutes left, followed by his foul shot 27 seconds later, extended the difference to 99-62.
