(Sports Network) - The Dallas Mavericks will open a four-game homestand tonight, when they welcome Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers to American Airlines Center.
Dallas will also host the Celtics, Spurs and Clippers, and owns a 29-4 mark at home this season. It has won four in a row at American Airlines Center.
The Mavericks are unbeaten in their last five games overall, including a 98-73 triumph over the Miami Heat on Sunday in South Beach. Dirk Nowitzki scored 21 points, while Brandon Bass and Jason Terry both had 14 points for the Mavericks, who won their fifth straight contest by an average margin of nearly 24 points and sit tied with the Spurs at sixth in the Western Conference standings. Both teams are a half game behind Phoenix for the fifth spot.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will resume a four-game road trip on Tuesday, and are 22-13 away from the Staples Center this season. They fell to 0-2 on the trek after Sunday's 104-92 setback to the surging Rockets at the Toyota Center, and are now a game behind Houston for Western Conference supremacy.
Bryant scored a team-high 24 points for the Lakers, who have dropped three of their last four contests and sit one game ahead of Phoenix for the top spot in the Pacific Division. Lamar Odom donated 17 points and 11 rebounds in defeat.
Lakers center Pau Gasol missed Sunday's game with a sprained left ankle sustained in Friday's loss at New Orleans. He left the arena on crutches and will miss at least three games. Gasol has averaged 19 points and eight rebounds since coming to Los Angeles from Memphis last month.
Los Angeles will close out the road trip on Thursday at Utah.
The Lakers and Mavericks are playing the third of four matchups this season. The series is tied at a game apiece, while Los Angeles is slated to host Dallas at the Staples Center on April 4.
Dallas has won three of four and five of the last seven matchups with the Lakers, who have lost four straight after winning their last two as the visitor in this series.
