(Sports Network) - The Central Division-leading Detroit Pistons try to earn win No. 50 this season, as they visit the Washington Wizards tonight at the Verizon Center.
A victory tonight would give the Pistons their seventh straight season with at least 50 victories.
Detroit is the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race, while Washington is No. 5 and is a half game ahead of the sixth-seeded Toronto Raptors.
The Pistons try to get back on the winning track, as they conclude a two-game road trip. On Wednesday, LeBron James scored a game-high 30 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to an 89-73 victory over Central Division-rival Detroit at Quicken Loans Arena.
Rasheed Wallace finished with 16 points and three blocks in the loss for the Pistons, who had a three-game winning streak halted. Richard Hamilton added 14 points and seven assists, while Tayshaun Prince ended with 11 points and Chauncey Billups netted 10 in defeat.
Detroit is 22-13 on the road this season. The Pistons will host the Phoenix Suns on Monday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Wizards could get a big boost this evening. Multi-talented guard Gilbert Arenas is questionable. Arenas last played on November 16, as he has been sidelined because of left knee surgery. The Arizona product was averaging 22.4 points and 5.9 assists in eight games before going down with his injury.
If Arenas does not play tonight, he could return on Tuesday at Portland.
Washington returns home after going 2-0 on a two-game road trip. On Friday, Caron Butler scored 25 points and dished out six assists to lead the Wizards past the Miami Heat, 103-86, at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Antawn Jamison poured in 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Wizards, who have won five of their last six contests overall. Roger Mason scored 11 points in victory, while Antonio Daniels netted nine and dished out seven assists in the victory.
After tonight's contest, the Wizards will embark on a five-game road trip. They will visit Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, the Lakers and Utah on the upcoming swing.
The Wizards are 20-15 at home this season.
This is the second meeting of the campaign between the squads. On January 2, Hamilton led a balanced Pistons attack with 20 points, seven rebounds and nine assists to lift the Pistons past the Wizards, 106-93, at the Verizon Center.
The Pistons have won three of the last five contests in the series.
Detroit will host the Wizards on April 11 at The Palace.
