Boston opens homestand against Sixers

(Sports Network) - The Boston Celtics will open a four-game homestand tonight, when they welcome the surging Philadelphia 76ers to TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston will also host Phoenix, New Orleans and Miami on the homestand, and is an impressive 29-5 at home this season. The Celtics have won 11 of their last 12 games in Beantown.

The top-seeded Celtics had a four-game winning streak stopped after Saturday's 113-106 setback to the Hornets, as Paul Pierce poured in 28 points in a losing cause. Rajon Rando had 23 points, while Kevin Garnett added 19 and 12 boards for the Celtics, who lost for just the second time in 16 tries.

In injury news for Atlantic Division-leading Boston, guard Tony Allen (back) is questionable for Monday's game against Philadelphia.

Philadelphia will hit the road on Monday and owns a 15-20 record away from the City of Brotherly Love this season. It has won five of six and six of the last eight games on the road.

The 76ers, who are tied with Toronto for sixth in the East playoff standings, have won five of their last six games overall. They posted a 91-87 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday at the Wachovia Center, as Andre Iguodala drained four big free throws down the stretch and finished with 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the charge.

Andre Miller chipped in 21 points and five assists, while Lou Williams posted 15 points off the bench in the triumph. Philly is a solid 17-5 in its last 22 games. On the injury front for the 76ers, center Samuel Dalembert (shoulder) is probable for Monday's game.

Boston is 3-0 so far against the Sixers this season, and has won six of nine and eight of the last 12 encounters.

Philadelphia is 2-3 in its last five trips to Boston.
