New York, NY (Sports Network) - Jamal Crawford scored 24 points as the New York Knicks came back from blowing a nine point lead in the final two minutes of regulation to top the Miami Heat in overtime, 103-96, and snap a five-game losing streak.
Zach Randolph added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Knicks, who won for just the second time in 13 games in March, with both wins being over Miami. David Lee contributed 15 points and 16 boards, while Jared Jeffries scored 12 and Fred Jones tallied 11.
"I thought our veterans, the guys that were engaged in the game, Jamal, Randolph and David were good tonight," said Knick coach Isaiah Thomas. "It was good to get a win."
Trailing by nine with 2:09 to play, the Heat responded with six straight points, pulling within 89-86 when Daequan Cook stroked a wide-open three from the left wing with 27.7 seconds to play.
Jones made 1-of-2 at the free throw line, but Ricky Davis answered for Miami, drilling another three and bringing the Heat within a single point, 90-89, with 18.4 seconds left.
Crawford drained a pair of free throws to push the lead back to three, but Davis had the answer once again, canning a lunging three with 6.4 ticks left to force a 92-92 tie.
Jones attempted a three at the buzzer, but the shot clanged off the front of the rim as time expired as the game headed to overtime.
Davis drained a three a minute into overtime to open up a 95-92 lead, but the Knicks countered with the next seven points for a 99-95 gap after Randolph's hook shot with just under two minutes to play.
A free throw from Davis cut the lead to three, but Randolph drove to the basket for a layup an a 101-96 margin with 18.8 seconds remaining.
Davis misfired on a three, and the Knicks sealed the win at the charity stripe.
"We did enough to win the game," said Heat coach Pat Riley. "We didn't shoot the ball well, but that is too much to overcome. Three, four or five extra rebounds might have meant a win for us."
Davis scored 28 and added nine boards and six assists for the Heat, who fell to 2-12 in March, with both wins coming over Milwaukee. Cook poured in 21 points, while Kasib Powell notched 14 off the bench.
"Ricky is a scorer and he has always been a scorer," Crawford said. "He is a veteran there, and he put them on his back tonight."
New York scored the game's first six points and led by as many as eight in the opening quarter en route to a 26-20 advantage after 12 minutes behind eight points apiece from Lee and Randolph.
Miami closed to within two in the second quarter, but the Knicks finished the half with an 8-2 run to take a 48-40 edge to the locker room.
The comeback continued for Miami after halftime, as the Heat reeled in New York's lead and finally tied the game at 55-55 on a Davis three with 4 1/2 minutes left in the third. A free throw from Lee put New York back on top, but Cook answered with another three to give the Heat their first lead of the game, 58-56, with 4:13 to go in the frame.
The teams traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter, but Powell drained a three with 46 seconds to go that gave the Heat a 65-63 lead heading into the fourth.
The game continued to be tight early in the fourth quarter, but after a pair of Alexander Johnson free throws forced a 72-72 tie, Crawford buried a three to spark a 10-2 run that ended when Crawford's runner gave the Knicks an 82-74 lead with 6:23 to play.
Miami got as close as five, but the Knicks continued to assert their control and extended the lead to 89-80 when Jones drilled a three with 2:09 to play.
