Warriors host Blazers at ORACLE Arena

Thu 27th, March 2008

(Sports Network) - The playoff-hopeful Golden State Warriors conclude a two- game homestand when they host the Portland Trail Blazers tonight at ORACLE Arena.

Golden State is No. 8 in the Western Conference playoff race, just a half game ahead of the streaking Denver Nuggets.

The Warriors will attempt to get back on the winning track this evening. On Monday, superstar Kobe Bryant nearly had a triple-double and the Los Angeles Lakers got the benefit from a questionable foul call in the waning seconds of overtime to beat Golden State, 123-119, at ORACLE Arena and earn a split of a home-and-home series.

Baron Davis ended with 30 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Warriors, who have dropped two of their last three contests overall. Stephen Jackson had 29 points, while Al Harrington chipped in 19 and 12 rebounds and Monta Ellis collected 18 points, nine boards and nine assists in defeat.

Golden State is 23-12 at home this season. The Warriors will visit Allen Iverson and the Nuggets on Saturday at the Pepsi Center.

Portland tries to win its second straight game this evening. On Tuesday, Martell Webster scored 23 points, as the Blazers overcame injuries to a pair of their best players to beat the Washington Wizards, 102-82, at the Rose Garden.

Travis Outlaw added 20 points for Portland, which has won three of its last four games overall. Guard Brandon Roy strained his right groin at the end of the first quarter, but came back in the second, only to miss the second half. Forward LaMarcus Aldridge sat out with an ankle injury.

Roy and Aldridge are averaging nearly 37 points per game combined, but the Trail Blazers got big contributions from their bench as Jarrett Jack tallied 17 points and Channing Frye netted 10. Portland's bench outscored Washington's reserves, 42-28.

Aldridge, who has missed two straight contests, is questionable and Roy is doubtful for tonight's contest.

The Trail Blazers are 13-24 as the visitor this season.

Portland is 2-1 against Golden State this season. The Trail Blazers have dropped five in a row at the Warriors.
