Hornets continue trek up north in Toronto

(Sports Network) - The New Orleans Hornets are fighting for the top spot in the West, and will resume a six-game road trip tonight against the Toronto Raptors up north at the Air Canada Centre.

The Hornets are tied atop the West standings and Southwest Division with San Antonio, while the Lakers sit one game behind for conference supremacy. New Orleans had a five-game winning streak come to an end, and fell to 2-1 on the trek after Friday's 112-92 setback at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden.

MVP candidate Chris Paul had 22 points and 10 assists for New Orleans, which is 22-12 away from home this season. Peja Stojakovic scored 17 points and David West had 14 in defeat.

New Orleans will also visit Orlando and Miami on the swing.

Meanwhile, the Raptors are just one game behind Washington for the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race. They will close out a four-game homestand on Sunday against the Hornets, and are 22-14 in Canada this season.

Toronto is 2-1 on the homestand after back-to-back victories, including Friday's 103-95 win over the New York Knicks. Chris Bosh scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Rasho Nesterovic scored 18 points for the Raptors, winners in just three of their last 10 games overall.

Tonight's contests between the Hornets and Raptors is the second and final meeting of the regular season. In the first matchup on December 31 at New Orleans Arena, Bosh scored 29 points as Toronto wiped out a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter for a 97-92 victory.

Toronto has won three straight and eight of the last 10 meetings with the Hornets.

New Orleans has lost three of its last four at the Air Canada Centre.
