(Sports Network) - The Utah Jazz are inching closer to a playoff spot and will shoot for their fourth straight win this afternoon, when they pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center.
The Northwest Division-leading Jazz are currently fourth in the Western Conference playoff standings, and will put their 16-21 road mark to the test this evening. Utah made it three straight wins with Friday's 121-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in the finale of a five-game homestand at EnergySolutions Arena.
Carlos Boozer poured in 34 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the Jazz, while Deron Williams scored 32 points and dished out 10 assists in a winning effort. Utah is just a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the third seed, and two games off the lead in the conference standings.
In injury news for the Jazz, guard Ronnie Brewer (virus) is probable against Minnesota, center Mehmet Okur (virus) is out and forward Andrei Kirilenko (calf) is listed as doubtful.
The Timberwolves will open a brief two-game homestand on Sunday versus Utah and Detroit, and are 13-23 at the Target Center this season. They have lost two straight and three of four games, including Friday's 99-84 setback to the San Antonio Spurs at the AT&T Center.
Ryan Gomes tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds for the T'Wolves. Al Jefferson had 14 points and Rashad McCants added 13 off the bench in defeat.
Minnesota will try to extend its home winning streak to four games tonight.
Sunday's showdown between Utah and Minnesota is the third of four matchups this season. The Jazz are scheduled to host the Timberwolves on April 2 in Salt Lake City.
The 2007-08 season series is tied at 1-1, while Utah has won four of five, seven of nine and eight of the last 13 meetings.
The Jazz, though, have lost two of their last three at the Target Center.
