Salt Lake City, UT (Sports Network) - C.J. Miles scored a career-high 29 points to lead a balanced Utah attack that included seven players in double figures, and the Jazz trounced the Washington Wizards, 129-87, at EnergySolutions Arena.
Carlos Boozer had 19 points, and Deron Williams scored 12 to go with his game- high 16 assists, as Utah (49-26) won for the fourth time in five outings and stretched its Northwest Division lead to 3 1/2 games over the Denver Nuggets, who lost late Monday night in Phoenix.
Mehmet Okur totaled 16 points, nine boards and five assists, while Kyle Korver scored 15 and Matt Harpring added 13. Ronnie Price rounded out the double- digit scorers with 10 points. Utah hit 15 three-pointers as a team, shooting at a 58 percent clip from beyond the arc, and set a new franchise record by knocking down nine triples in the first half.
"I didn't know that we were going to have that much energy and play as well as we did," Utah head coach Jerry Sloan said. "But I was proud of the fact that we came and bounced back and tried to get a win after a loss (at Minnesota Sunday.) You're always worried about how they are going to react."
Antawn Jamison dropped 22 points to lead Washington, which effectively lost its second straight before the halftime break by allowing a whopping 42 second-quarter points.
Nick Young scored 18 and Roger Mason 16 for the Wizards (38-36), who fell back into a tie with Toronto for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference thanks to the Raptors' win over Charlotte earlier Monday night.
Caron Butler sat out with a strained hamstring for the Wizards, whose loss clinched the Southeast Division title for the Orlando Magic.
"Their offense is constantly screening," Washington's DeShawn Stevenson said of the Jazz. "We haven't played a team like that. If you don't come and be focused they get up a lot of shots. They kept screening, kept getting open guys."
Utah led 31-22 after one quarter, then ripped off a 17-4 run to begin the second. Korver's jumper capped the burst, extending the lead to 38-24 with more than seven minutes still left in the half.
Boozer's bucket made it 61-35 at the three-minute mark, and Miles and Williams hit threes to send the Jazz into the break holding a commanding 73-41 advantage.
Utah maintained its cushion of 30-plus points throughout the third, and was up 94-57 after Miles converted a hoop with 3:33 left in the period. The lead ballooned to 105-66 by the end of the third, and the final period was purely academic, with Washington never pulling within fewer than 30.
