Rockets aim for 50th win at Portland

(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets are still in search of their 50th win of the season, and will resume a five-game road trip tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Garden.

Houston has lost the first two games of the trek, and fell to 21-15 as the guest this season following Tuesday's 99-98 setback to the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena. Tracy McGrady contributed 32 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Rockets, who are a half game behind Phoenix for the fifth seed in the Western Conference playoff race. They are also three games off the top spot in the Southwest Division.

Luis Scola added 20 points and eight boards, while Rafer Alston provided 16 points in a losing effort. Houston will also visit the Sonics and Clippers on the current swing.

Portland has lost three straight and will open a three-game homestand on Thursday versus the Rockets, Spurs and Lakers. It is 25-11 at the Rose Garden this season.

In Wednesday's 104-91 loss to the Lakers at the Staples Center, Martell Webster and Travis Outlaw each scored 23 points for Portland. Steve Blake chipped in 12 points and 10 assists, while LaMarcus Aldridge added 11 points and 12 boards in defeat.

The Rockets and Blazers are playing the fourth and final matchup of the season on Thursday, while Houston is in search of a four-game sweep.

Houston has won four straight and five of the last six meetings in the series. It has also won two in a row after losing the previous two trips to the Rose Garden.
