Rockets conclude road trip against Clippers

(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets conclude a five-game road trip tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center.

Houston, which is closing in on making the playoffs for the second straight season, is tied with Phoenix for No. 5 in the Western Conference playoff race.

This is the second matchup of the campaign between the clubs. On Monday, Tracy McGrady scored 36 points and keyed a fourth-quarter surge that put the game away as the Rockets earned an 88-71 victory over the Clippers at the Staples Center.

The Rockets have won three in a row in the series, and four straight at the Clippers.

Houston will host the Clippers on April 16 at the Toyota Center.

The Rockets have won two in a row and are 2-2 on the swing. Tracy McGrady poured in a game-high 25 points, and the Rockets held the Seattle SuperSonics to 25 second half points in a 79-66 victory at KeyArena .

Houston will host Seattle on Wednesday and Phoenix on Friday at the Toyota Center.

The Clippers open a three-game homestand against the Rockets. They are 13-25 as the host this season, and will also play Denver and the Lakers on the current stand.

On Thursday, Kevin Martin scored 26 points, making 4-of-5 three-pointers, and the Sacramento Kings coasted to a 110-98 victory over the Clippers at ARCO Arena.

Corey Maggette led the Clippers with 28 points in the loss to Sacramento. Elton Brand, in his second game back, scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench for the Clippers, who have split four games after a 10- game losing streak. Brand missed the first 74 games of this season after surgery on his left Achilles' tendon in August.
