Warriors have to be ready to play in New Orleans

(Sports Network) - The playoff-hopeful Golden State Warriors wrap up a four- game road trip, as they visit the playoff-bound New Orleans Hornets this afternoon at New Orleans Arena.

The Hornets are 1 1/2 games ahead San Antonio for the top spot in the West and in the Southwest Division. The Pacific Division-leading Lakers are also 1 1/2 games in back of New Orleans.

The Warriors are tied with Denver for the eighth and final playoff berth in the West.

Golden State is 1-2 on the swing. Andris Biedrins scored 21 points and ripped down 17 rebounds, and the Golden State Warriors routed the Memphis Grizzlies, 117-86, to stay in the Western Conference playoff race.

Monta Ellis scored 19 points for Golden State, which is 4-6 in its last 10 games overall. Kelenna Azubuike contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

After today's contest, the Warriors return home for a three-game homestand. They will host Sacramento, Denver and the Clippers on the upcoming stand.

Golden State is 21-18 on the road this season.

New Orleans plays the middle contest of a three-game homestand. On Friday, Chris Paul finished with 33 points and 15 assists as the Hornets clinched a playoff spot with a 118-110 win over the New York Knicks.

Peja Stojakovic ended with 22 points in the win over New York for the Hornets, who have won four in a row.

The Hornets, who are 28-10 at home this season, will host the Utah Jazz on Tuesday in the finale of the stand.

The teams have split a a pair of contests this season. Golden State has won two in a row at the Hornets.
