Bulls, Heat meet in Miami

(Sports Network) - The Chicago Bulls open a short road trip tonight against the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Chicago is 5 1/2 games behind Atlanta for the final postseason spot in the Eastern Conference with six contests remaining on the schedule. It will visit Miami and Orlando on the current swing, and owns a 12-26 record away from the Windy City this season. Chicago has lost six of seven road games.

The Bulls have lost two of three and four of their last six games, including Saturday's 99-87 setback to the Washington Wizards at the United Center. Ben Gordon scored 18 points off the bench, while Larry Hughes recorded 16 points and Tyrus Thomas 12 in a losing cause.

Miami is on the verge of wrapping up one of the ugliest seasons in franchise and NBA history, and has lost seven in a row and 10 of its past 11 games. In Sunday's 91-75 loss to Detroit in the opener of a three-game homestand, Earl Barron scored a team-high 20 points and Chris Quinn added 14 for the Heat, who are an NBA-worst 13-64 this season.

Ricky Davis pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and netted 11 points in defeat. Miami will also host Memphis on the homestand, and is 7-31 in South Beach this season.

The Heat have lost two straight, nine of 10 and 15 of their previous 17 games as the host.

Chicago is 2-0 against the Heat this season, and has won six of seven and seven of the last 11 meetings.

The Bulls are just 5-15 in their past 20 trips to Miami.
