Pacers, Wizards meet in Washington

(Sports Network) - The Indiana Pacers have to win their remaining two games and get some help if they plan on capturing a playoff berth. Tonight they will pay a visit to the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center.

Indiana is two games behind idle Atlanta for the eighth and final postseason spot in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers hold the tiebreaker after winning the season series with the Hawks, who can wrap up the No. 8 spot with an Indiana loss. Atlanta hosts Orlando on Tuesday at Philips Arena.

The Pacers had a four-game winning streak halted with Saturday's 107-103 setback to the Charlotte Bobcats at Conseco Fieldhouse. Danny Granger had 37 points and Mike Dunleavy ended with 22 in a losing effort.

Indiana has won two straight on the road, and owns a 15-25 record as the visitor this season.

Washington, meanwhile, is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference playoff race, and will most likely face No. 4 Cleveland in the first round of the playoffs. It has won four of the last five games, including Saturday's 109-93 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers in the opener of a brief two-game homestand.

Gilbert Arenas ended with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists, as the Wizards used a huge fourth quarter to defeat the Sixers. Washington, which trailed by six after three quarters of play, outscored Philly by a 31-9 margin over the final 12 minutes.

Antawn Jamison had team-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds in the win. The Wizards have won three straight at home and are 24-16 as the host in 2007-08.

Indiana leads the season series with Washington, 2-1, but the Wizards have won four of six and six of the last nine meetings. Indiana has lost two straight and three of its last four trips to D.C.
