Nets, Bobcats square off at the Meadowlands

(Sports Network) - A pair of teams that did not qualify for the postseason square off tonight, when the New Jersey Nets welcome the Charlotte Bobcats to the Izod Center.

New Jersey is 5-3 in its last eight home games, and owns a 20-20 mark at the Meadowlands this season. It ended a two-game losing streak with a 111-98 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday at the Bradley Center.

Richard Jefferson scored 24 points and added seven assists, while Vince Carter had 21 points and 10 assists for the Nets, who were eliminated from playoff contention with Friday's loss in Toronto. Bostjan Nachbar contributed 15 points and Devin Harris chipped in 13 points, nine assists and six steals.

The Nets will close out the 2007-08 season on Wednesday at Boston. They are 13-27 as the visitor this season.

Charlotte will wrap up a three-game road trip on Tuesday, and owns an 11-29 record as the guest in 2007-08. It has alternated wins and losses over its previous six games, while improving to 1-1 on the swing following Saturday's 107-103 triumph over Indiana at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Jason Richardson scored 26 points and Jared Dudley added 19 for the Bobcats, who will finish near the bottom of the Southeast Division for a fourth consecutive season.

The Bobcats will host Philadelphia in their season finale on Wednesday. They are 20-20 at home this season.

New Jersey is 2-1 against the Bobcats this season, and has won 11 of the 14 all-time matchups in this series.

Charlotte has dropped four of the six meetings on the road against the Nets.
