(Sports Network) - The fourth-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers try to make it eight straight playoff victories over the fifth-seeded Washington Wizards, as the clubs meet for Game 2 of the opening round of the NBA playoffs at Quicken Loans Arena.
In the opener, superstar LeBron James scored 32 points, including two straight key buckets down the stretch and the Cavaliers used a fourth-quarter surge against the Wizards to earn a 93-86 victory on Saturday at Quicken Loans Arena.
James also grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists, while Zydrunas Ilgauskas ended with 22 points and 11 boards for the Cavaliers, who outscored the Wizards 28-17 in the final quarter and closed the game on an 11-2 run.
Cleveland has won seven straight over the Wizards in the postseason. The last time Washington defeated the Cavaliers in the playoffs was on April 30, 2006 in Game 4 of the first round.
Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 23 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, while Gilbert Arenas scored 24 off the bench for Washington, which shot 6- of-24 from three-point range and committed 13 turnovers in the loss.
Washington has dropped nine of its last 10 Game 2s in the postseason, while the Cavaliers have dropped two of their last three Games 2s.
The Cavaliers have defeated Washington two straight years in the opening round of the playoffs. They were seeded No. 2 last year and swept the seventh-seeded Wizards in the quarterfinals of the conference playoffs. The year before, Cleveland needed six games to dispose of the Wizards. Led by James last season, the Cavs breezed past Washington before beating both New Jersey and Detroit in six games to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA finals against San Antonio. However, the Spurs broke out the brooms on Cleveland with a sweep for their fourth NBA title in nine years.
This is a best-of-seven series. Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at the Verizon Center.
During the regular season, the teams split four contests as both clubs won a pair of games at home.
The Cavaliers were 27-14 at home this season, while Washington was 18-23 as the visitor.
