Pistons, Sixers meet for Game 2 at The Palace

Wed 23rd, April 2008

(Sports Network) - The seventh-seeded Philadelphia 76ers have a chance to take a 2-0 lead over the second-seeded Detroit Pistons in the first round of the playoffs, as the teams battle tonight at The Palace of Auburn Hills

Game 3 of this best-of-seven set is scheduled for Friday at The Wachovia Center.

On Sunday, Andre Miller led five Sixers in double figures with 20 points and six assists as Philadelphia overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to stun the Pistons, 90-86, at The Palace in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

Reggie Evans finished with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Willie Green added 17 points in the win for the Sixers. Andre Iguodala scored 16 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out a game-high eight assists.

Rasheed Wallace paced the Pistons with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks. Jason Maxiell tallied a double-double off the bench with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Chauncey Billups netted 14 and Richard Hamilton scored 13 in defeat.

Detroit has won six straight Game 2s in the postseason, while Philadelphia has dropped two in a row.

The Sixers are back in the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign. They have been eliminated by Detroit in their last two postseason appearances. The Pistons defeated Philadelphia in six games, 4-2, in the 2003 East semis and in five contests, 4-1, in the opening round of the 2005 playoffs.

The Pistons have made the Eastern Conference finals five straight years. They lost in six games, 4-2, last year to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East finals. Detroit is attempting to become the first team since the 1984-89 Los Angeles Lakers to reach six straight conference finals

Detroit was 34-7 at home during the regular season, while Philadelphia was 18-23 on the road.

During the 2007-08 campaign, the Sixers and Pistons split four meetings. Both clubs picked up wins on the road and at home.
