Pistons, Sixers resume series in City of Brotherly Love

Fri 25th, April 2008

(Sports Network) - The Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers continue their first-round playoff series tonight at the Wachovia Center, as the teams play Game 3 of the best-of-seven set.

The series is tied 1-1. Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday in the City of Brotherly Love.

On Wednesday, Richard Hamilton led five Pistons in double figures with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as Detroit emphatically evened its best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with a 105-88 win over the Sixers at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Antonio McDyess, Rasheed Wallace and Tayshaun Prince scored 16 apiece in the victory. McDyess also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for the Pistons.

Louis Williams led Philadelphia with 17 points off the bench, while Andre Miller scored 14 to go along with three assists. Reggie Evans followed up a strong Game 1 performance with 13 points and 11 boards, but Sixers leading scorer Andre Iguodala was nearly invisible, totaling just four points and one rebound on 1-of-9 from the floor.

In Game 1, Miller led five Sixers in double figures with 20 points and six assists as Philadelphia overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to stun the Pistons, 90-86, at The Palace. Evans finished with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in the win.

Philadelphia has won two straight Games 3s in the playoffs, while Detroit has lost four of its last six Game 3s in the postseason.

The Pistons have dropped three straight playoff contests on the road.

The Sixers are back in the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 campaign. They have been eliminated by Detroit in their last two postseason appearances. The Pistons defeated Philadelphia in six games, 4-2, in the 2003 East semis and in five contests, 4-1, in the opening round of the 2005 playoffs.

The Pistons have made the Eastern Conference finals five straight years. They lost in six games, 4-2, last year to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East finals. Detroit is attempting to become the first team since the 1984-89 Los Angeles Lakers to reach six straight conference finals

During the 2007-08 regular season, the Sixers and Pistons split four meetings. Both clubs picked up wins on the road and at home.
