Ducks, fans celebrate Stanley Cup victory

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks held their Stanley Cup victory bash at the Honda Center on Saturday.

Anaheim, which took home the first Cup in the franchise's brief 14-year history with a 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday, welcomed 15,000 fans outside its home rink. The two-hour-long ceremony included free food, drinks, and a chance for the faithful to meet the players who made the win possible. Some fans showed up as early as 4:30 a.m. to celebrate, holding marathon tailgating sessions until the official party began. Many in the crowd wore Ducks jerseys and carried home-made Stanley Cup replicas. The Ducks were the third NHL team to find a home in California, following the Los Angeles Kings (1967), and San Jose Sharks (1992). Anaheim boasts two major sports titles, the first coming when the Angels won the 2002 World Series over the San Francisco Giants.
