East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, who has missed two of the last three games due to a knee injury, practiced Wednesday and said he's ready to play in Sunday's NFC divisional playoff showdown with the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I'm ready to go, I feel real good about our situation and where we are right now," said Jacobs. "I just can't wait for the game to get here."
Jacobs (1,089) and Derrick Ward (1,025) finished as the first teammates in the NFL since 1985 to go over 1,000 yards rushing in the same season. Jacobs averaged five yards a carry for a second consecutive year.
"He's one of the better backs in the league and can single-handedly go out and do something," Jacobs said of Ward. "He's been phenomenal for our team."
Jacobs was hurt in a November 16 game against Baltimore and sat out the following week's contest against Arizona and missed three of the team's final six regular season games.
The Eagles and Giants split two games this season, with each team winning on the road. Philadelphia came into the Meadowlands for a 20-14 triumph on December 7, a game Jacobs was limited to 52 yards rushing on 10 carries. In the first meeting, a 36-31 final on November 9, Jacobs torched the Eagles for 126 yards on the ground and a pair of touchdowns. Sunday's game will be at Giants Stadium.
"I've been playing since Week 3 with the same thing," Jacobs said of his injury. "I've been performing at a very high level. I don't think it's going to bother me on Sunday or any other time period through this run."
