Suns host Pacers in the desert

(Sports Network) - The Phoenix Suns shoot for their fourth consecutive win Wednesday when they welcome the Indiana Pacers to US Airways Center.

The Suns won the opener of a three-game homestand last Friday when Amare Stoudemire finished with 23 points and eight rebounds, as Phoenix posted a 106-98 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Shaquille O'Neal added 17 points and nine boards for the Suns, who have won four of their last five contests. Steve Nash contributed 11 assists to go with nine points in the win, while Jason Richardson ended with 15 points.

Phoenix, which is 10-6 in the Valley of the Sun, will finish its residency against Dallas on January 9.

The Pacers, meanwhile, dropped the opener of a five-game road swing in Denver on Monday when Chauncey Billups scored 24 points and dished out 11 assists as part of a balanced attack, and the Nuggets posted a costly 135-115 win over Indiana at the Pepsi Center.

Carmelo Anthony provided 21 points, nine assists and six rebounds for the Nuggets, but postgame x-rays revealed he suffered a nondisplaced third metacarpal fracture on his right hand in the third quarter.

Danny Granger had a game-high 36 points, while Troy Murphy recorded 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Pacers, who have lost five of seven overall and fell to just 5-13 as the visitor. Jarrett Jack contributed 17 points, while Stephen Graham had 16 in the loss.

Indiana will also face the LA Lakers, Golden State and Utah on its trek.

The Suns have won seven straight and eight of their last nine meetings with the Pacers, including a 113-103 win in Indianapolis on November 5.
