Syracuse, NY (Sports Network) - Andy Rautins scored 17 points and added six assists, leading 11th-ranked Syracuse to an 85-68 win over DePaul at the Carrier Dome.
Arinze Onuaku totaled 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Orange (15-1, 3-0 Big East), who have won six in a row since falling to Cleveland State on December 15. Paul Harris finished with 14 points, nine boards and four blocks, while Eric Devendorf chipped in 13 points.
"It's encouraging to win these last two games when we could have played better," Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim said. "We are still making some mistakes that we can correct. The schedule is what it is. I'd say were probably playing the toughest schedule in the Big East."
Dar Tucker poured in 18 points for the Blue Demons (8-8, 0-3), who have dropped four of their last five games. Will Walker netted 13 points and Mac Koshwal pulled down 13 rebounds to go along with a 12-point effort.
After a back-and-forth start to the contest, Syracuse took command of the game and led 20-10 after a Devendorf jumper. The Blue Demons, though, sliced the deficit in half and trailed 22-17 with just under nine minutes remaining, but a Jonny Flynn layup restored a double-digit cushion for the hosts a little over a minute later.
A Rautins deuce stretched the Syracuse lead to 47-28 with about two minutes to play, and DePaul trailed 47-31 at halftime after Walker buried a three in the frame's waning seconds.
Syracuse remained in firm control in the second half, as Devendorf knocked down a trey and Onuaku added a bucket to make it 71-50 with about 8 1/2 minutes remaining. The Orange cruised the rest of the way.
