Cavs open quick road swing in Memphis vs. Grizzlies

Tue 13th, January 2009

(Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers will open a quick two-game road trip tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.

Cleveland, which is an NBA-best 19-0 at home, will also visit the Chicago Bulls on the trek and owns a 10-6 mark away from Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavs have lost two in a row as the visitor, but has won two straight and three of their last four games overall, including Friday's 98-83 win versus Boston.

LeBron James scored 23 of his 38 points in the second half and Anderson Varejao added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers, who are the first team to start a season 19-0 at home since the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls (37 games) and the 1995-96 Orlando Magic (33 games).

James also had seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks to help the Cavs push their record to an Eastern Conference-best 29-6. Mo Williams had 13 points and Daniel Gibson added 10 for Cleveland, which has won all its home games by at least four points, the first team since the 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers (22 games) to accomplish the feat.

In injury news for the Cavaliers, center Ben Wallace is questionable for Tuesday's game with flu-like symptoms.

Memphis will kick off a three-game homestand Tuesday versus the Cavs, Jazz and Pistons, and is 9-11 as the host in 2008-09. It has dropped three in a row and seven of its last eight games, including Friday's 103-82 setback at Toronto.

Rudy Gay had a team-high 22 points for the Grizzlies, who got 18 points from Hakim Warrick and 12 from Kyle Lowry in a losing effort. Memphis rookie guard O.J. Mayo (hip) is questionable for Tuesday's game.

Cleveland went 2-0 against Memphis a year ago and has won five straight and seven of the last eight meetings. The Grizzlies have won five of the last eight as the host in this series.
